As soon as SG:NHS is turned over to Baudot I'm out of here.

My son enjoys the musical stylings of Kenny Loggins.

It took a while to catch the Kenny Loggins reference, but still funny.
And a happy anniversary to babypants! I can imagine you're either "oh yeah, this ain't so hard," or "...Friday, oh riight, ok, I think I can do 5:15 to 5:45, but I've got a conference call that may run over..."

Excellent. (that's the life part, not the quitting part)
New gig rolls along splendidly. Can't believe it's been less than 4 weeks. So much has happened.
Managed not to forget 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday.
Small victories abound.

I think you might be right. I still need to come by and pay my respects to the new addition, and YOU still owe me a 3-listen review of "Loveless".
What's your schedule like these days? I'm heading out to LA for most of next week (and I'm buying my first e-book for the flight!), but aside from that, I don't have too much on aside from trying to watch five seasons of The Wire within the 30 days I have to return it if there's a problem with the disc. I don't know why I do this to myself.
I also learned that you shouldn't tell your friend who was bugging you to watch a show that you've finally started watching it. Otherwise, they might just ask "Oh, did you get to the part where <SPOILER> gets <SPOILER>?" and you're going to be sad.

Offering a longer response to a thing you tweeted:
Yes, netflix will be the better value for most at that price point, but:
1) It's not a strict either/or. One can subscribe to both, and at 10$ a month, endless eBooks are still a good value for many.
2) I already pay 23$ a month for limited eBooks a month, in the form of O'Reilly's "Safari" service. Half the technical books I'd ever think of buying hardcopy are on the service. Even though I use it a tenth so much as I use google to answer tech questions, it's still paying it's cost. It keeps me from buying my weight in new, expensive tech books every two years.

Years ago I applied to start a group about noses. Mostly SGs with great noses, but I was ready for members' passion for the subject to take us afield to celebrities and the like.
The application was denied, but to this day I sometimes see a new set and think, "oh yeah, she'd be worth a new thread in the Nose Group."

llona, magpie, kikka: noses par excellence.

I would join a nose group. Myself, I have a bland and button-cute midwestern nose, but I've always been a fan of prominent noses. So much so, in fact, that I married a man with a nose like a Doberman.
Home as of yesterday.

nice.
They say something like 80% of first births are late.
Well, the boy's due today and it looks like he's aiming to be in the 20% minority.

Wow, a kid that decides to show up on time? Congrats, and good luck to you both today!

Can't get twitter here, so I'm on pins and needles. Hope it is going, or went, well.
Less than a week.

All the best.
I think that having a child is one of the only rituals in being a man that Western culture offers anymore and still makes some kind of sense.

I really don't get the deal with Americans' fear of government in this health insurance dust-up.
Why wouldn't you want an institution not motivated by profit to administer health insurance? For fuck's sakes, the private sector has as many idiots running things as in the public sector. The difference is that in the private sector organizations are rewarded financially for not providing the services that...

Did you ever pick up that MBV album? I refuse to let your little one be born into a home without Loveless in the library, and will take any steps necessary to prevent it.

I don't know about this socialized health care. Apparently, Stephen Hawking would have been left to die if he'd been born in a country with government-run medical care.

The boyfriend and I recently put all of our books in boxes, which isn't so impressive in itself. The impressive part is that he created a speadsheet that notes the box number each book is in. No more tearing boxes apart to find one book!
