Well... I did get some good drawing done. So there's that...

Does it make me gay that I find bullshitting with katiebarthedoor to be more of a draw for me to this site than the naked girls sometimes? Really? It does? Does this mean I get a better wardrobe now?

That's how I rank my Marlowes

I also love his short stories which are collected in The Simple Art of Murder, especially one called "The King in Yellow"- if you are looking for a good non0Bogie Marlowe, try a young James Garner in "Marlowe" cooly updated for the 1960s and even with a sweet Bruce Lee cameo. It's my second favorite Chandler film besides the real Bogart one.

Of course, what I really would kill for is DVDs of the early 80s "Philp Marlowe private eye" series starring Powers Boothe -- those were on HBO and taken from the short stories. They sort of grafted on Marlowe as the prtagonist since he wasn't in the stories, but they did rock.

James Caan is good as old married Marlowe in "Poodle Springs" actually --- the book sucked cause the manuscript was unfinished when Chandler died and Robert PArker picks it up, very visibly, midway through -- but the movie is god because Caan really makes me think that this is what Marlowe would end up like more mature and married.
