whoa! complete fav girl revamp. hmmm, not sure if that's the right word. anyways, they all changed.
I was visited by two sweet old ladies this morning. You guessed it, Jehovah's witnesses. They were nice. I got a pamphlet from them and I started reading it. I was actually impressed with the beginning of it. At the start it talks about things that are happening in the real world and how the bible predicts the state of man before "the last days". After about page 7 it goes off on all the reasons you should believe in god and such. dissappointment. The two ladies said they were interested in coming back so if they do maybe I can get some information out of them and hopefully they want to listen to what I have to say.
I have a with religion (esspecially christianity), and not neccessarily christianity but more the state of the people preaching christianity. My problem is that they offer people eternal life for believing what they believe. They are offering the greatest gift of all and all we have to do is obide by thier rules and guidelines and go to church. And when we go to church we sing songs and feel good about God and it's all fine and dandy. Then they say, " And now it's time for you to give us your money". They actually call it "tithes and offerings". It's a buisness just like anything else. And that's not my problem. My problem is that they tell people that they will go to hell, a fear of many people, if they don't follow the system that they have layed out. Why can't christians teach people how to be good people rather on focusing on the ultimate end. I know a lot of people who are douche bags but since they go to church and give the chuch money they are going to heaven. They may even have been baptised. And while I focus on living my life as a good person, if I don't believe in God he is going to send me to the pit of hell.
I used to be a christian in terms of going to church and things like that, and once I started falling away from following the system I would find myself thinking, "okay, well I'll just be a christian right before I die so I can go to heaven". That's not the right thing to be thinking. And I thought that because they told me that if I don't accept Jesus into my heart and live by the bible (a book written my man) I will go to hell. Do you think that maybe this is a scheme created, and maybe unintentionally, to keep people in the churches continuing to give the church money? Or maybe it's just a shceme created to keep the people in the churches so they continue to be good people.
I wonder what the churches tell the congrigation about the terrorist attacks. G. W. Bush (a man of God) says, something like "we were attacked by evil men who hate our freedom". They don't hate our freedom, they're free enough to fly planes into our buildings. They are mad because the leader of the most powerful country on earth is supporting Isreal. But that's only what the terrorists/heroes (to thier nation) said so who knows if it's true. That's a tangent, sorry.
My final thought is that churches are just as ignorant as the rest of the US, and ignorance is a more dangerous enemy than terrorists. how the fuck did this get back to politics?

P.S.: I'm seeing TV on the Radio next week, so maybe I'll regain a little of my indie cred. I haven't been to a show in forever. Going through withdrawals.
