Oh, how I wish free wi-fi actually meant free wi-fi. As it is, I carted my computer along on this trip for naught. Naught, I say! The hotel's promised wireless network just doesn't work. Instead, it sits there in my "available networks" list, mocking me with its sly, come-hither unprotected status. But just when I believe this network really, truly cares, it locks me out, denying me the IP address I was promised. And, needless to say, the desk clerk knows nothing helpful about it.

Fortunately, when I was pushed into getting a new phone, I opted for unlimited data. So here I sit, blogging away with a tiny, tiny keyboard in spite of being in what was once rated the most wired city in Virginia.

In every dark cloud, there should be a silver lining -and I thought this one must be that I get to blog from the comfort of a warm bath. But it turns out the hotel doesn't believe in baths, either. The drain has two positions -fast, loud draining, and slightly slower, much noisier draining. So, out of the bath and into the bed. Well, at least the sheets are clean and crisp.

I'm just here for the weekend to visit my brother and his family (including my nephew). Will I stay here again?

Well, yes. It's cheap with comfy beds. But when I take my vacation in January, I think I'll spring extra for a warm bath.
