I need to write about tonight in my diary. Definitely. If I kept a diary.
-Judith
This was a great past few days. I woke up this morning with Judith wrapped in my arms. How the fuck did that happen?
The Minutemen have gotten back together and this guy I know named Dan is ding the vocals on the soon to be released album. He also used to hang out with Mission to Burma and Sonic Youth when they toured Europe together, So I felt it to be quite an honor to have him riding with us to see Acid Mother's Temple. Even if he was beligerently drunk from the moment I met him. The whle night notheing but jibberish came out of his mouth. I mean if you had seen the amount of alcohole he consumed that night (not to mention however much he had before we picked him up) you'd be more than amazed he didn't puke al over my cousins Lexus. At one point Dan came out from backstage in the middle of a song and started dancing on stage. The bouncers had to escort him off. It was pretty damn funny.
After coming home from Detroit the night before I didn't get to bed until about 3:30 4 this morning. I woke up around 10 and took care of a few things around the house. and went out to breakfast at my favorite breakfast nook.
Damon said he wanted to leave for Cleveland about 1 so I ran and finally tried to get some groceries. I ended up rushing though and didn't get half the shit I neededm, so there is tstill nothing to eat in my refridgerator.
So as usual, because my cousin is shady I ended up rushing for nothing and we didn't leave for Clevo until about 3:30 or 4:00. He was punching it though so we got into town about 5:30... right when my wife missbernie was getting off of work. We drove around downtown by Jacob's Field right as the baseball game was getting started and I could feel the energy of the city, making me wish I lived in a real town once again.
So when I got to missbernies house she wasn't there yet, but Stirfry and levezletoi were as well as Larry and Jacob. Damon dropped me off and she walked in about 5 minutes later.
I started drinking some beer and we were just kinda hanging out. Levezletoi says "yeah, my girlfriend is good for inviting people over so she can ignore them so you'll have to excuse her." We just kinda bullshitted for a bit and he showed me a couple of his guns. That was pretty cool.
Stirfry left as did Jacob so then missbernie and I started talking for a bit on the couch. We had some pretty good conversation going, and I realize that me and her have a lot in common. I got to add a couple new terms to my vernacular and we talked a bit about relationships and compatability and what not. Turns out she's pretty intuitive. We drank a bit more and then we alll decided to go out to dinner. We went to this bar called "Woody's" and Levezletoi bought everyone's food and drinks. After that we went back to the house (sorry for being all stupid in the car, but you know how it is).
burstandbloom camre to pick me up around 11 and take me to the Acid Mother's Temple show. The show was pretty god but not as cool as in Detroit. I think that may be just because I particularly like the Magic Stick though. I met back up with my cousin Damon and our friend Steve who was hanging out with his girl Jen. After the band was done playing we hung out to close down the Grog Shop. I notced this girl sitting at the bar by herself and caught her eye. She smiled at me but that was about it. When Me, Steve and Damon took over the jukebox however, she came over and it turns out she's was actually one of Jen's good friends.
She said she didn't wanna sit over at the bar all by herself so she joined us in selecting the songs that would finish out the evening. James Brown, X, Pere Ubu, The Stooges, Television, and the Buzzcocks ended up on the list. She said her name was Judiith and we talked for a little bit before she went to hang out with Jen.
Steve decided to buy us a round of Molsen Canadians, and the little saying I got on mine read "I am a Rock Star". Pretty fitting I thought. Then the lead guitarist from Acid Mother's Temple saw me across the room and pointed at me. I walked over and he bowed in the customary Japanese manner. I bowed back because I hear that's what your supposed to do and he bowed again. We went through this ritual like five times then he shook my hand. Throughout the whole exchange I just kept nodding my head and the only thing i had to say at all was... "last night in Detroit too man... amazing" Who says language is a barrier.
About 2:30 we left the bar and I think there was definitely a feeling in the air of Coventry that night. Jen was gonna ride back home with Judith and Steve we were supposed to spend the night at Steve's , but he was too drunk to drive, plus we still had some party left in us. So after bullshitting with a few of the locals, Jen decided she would drive Steve's car over to her house and Judith would meet us there. We all grabbed hands and headed down the street. It was a great feeling.
"Army I am not driving to East Cleveland in a BMW!!!!!!!!"
- Jen Rabisi
On the way to the car theis guy they call Ary was hanging out on the corner wandering around pretty drunk. Supposedly everybody who hangs out down in Coventry is familiar with each other, so Jen asked him if his ride home left without him. Well Army was prety far gone, so he wasn't really making sense. Jen told him he could come with us and as soon as we pulled off we realised it was a bad idea.
Jen tried to get Army to tell her where he lived but he refused. She said she wasn't gonna drive around blindly at 3:00 in the morning and he just continued to talk jibberish. Finally Jen says, fuck it. "I'm trying to do you a favor, but you're being stupid so I'm going to my house and you'll just have to figure out what you're gonna do from there. (he refused to get out of the car)
So when we finally got to Jen's house, Judith was watiting in her car, wondeing what had taken us so long. We all headed inside and Jen told Army he couldn't come in. "We're all lover's and were going in here to have a good time, you're not invited. So Army walked off into the night, muttering incoherently. It was pretty fucking funny. The consensus is the cops probably picked him up a short while later. I still don't know for sure.
So we grab some drinks and snacks from the kitchen then all head up to Jen's room. We out on the "No Thank's" boxed set and just kind of hang out. We then decided to go out on the balcony and Judith takes out blankets and pillows so we can all lay down. The 5 of us are all hanging out and then we just kinda lay out there and start wind down.
Jusdith makes the comment about her diary and smiles at me. She goes in to get another blanket for us to share and she and I get to talking a little bit. She turns out to be pretty cool. Jen makes some comment about not wanting to be a hippie and sleep outside, and goes back into her bedroom with Steve. My cousin goes to sleep and Judith and I talk a little more. Turns out she's 27 and works for planned parenthood as a counselor. Hippie's or not we decide it's so nice outside tonight we're gonna sleep on the balcony.
I tell her I'm gonna steal her body heat, and she ays that's OK. We're both half asleep by then, so I'm not quite so sure how we ended up cuddled together, but it was nice. We didn''t get "too familiar", but when I woke up this morning we were spooned together (fully clothed of course) . I had one hand run through her hair and the other one interlaced with hers with my arm wrapped around her waist.
Damon and I had to leave, so I didn't wake her when I got up, but she did move a little in my absense. Again I don't know how we ended up together, so I didn't really say anything to her.
It was nice to wake up with a girl like that., but alas it was bittersweet. Truth of the matter is. I'll probably never see her again. Yeah it wouldn't be too difficult for me to ask Steve if he could get me back in contact with her. But will I. If you know my punk ass at all, you already know the answer is probably not. But it was great while it lasted.
Man... I really need to get laid, and I'm thinking I wanna move to Cleveland for a spell. If I can find the right job... I'm there.
