Well I really probably couldn't have timed that better if I tried. The talk with the VP went rather well. Of course he couldn't come right out and say that the gig was mine, but he did say he liked to move people up from within and that they had been very happy with me so far. Right now there are some other things on the company agenda and I'm thinking they'll get around to filling in that position towards the end of the year, but I have no problem with waiting.
I turns out that he had just left a meeting where they were discussing the needs for some equipment upgrades and the plans for adding new personnel so the topic was very fresh in his mind when we talked. He told me to drop a heads up to my boss that I was looking to move and we'd go from there. It also helps that unbeknownst to the rest of the company just yet, two other people from the department I'm trying to move into are looking at leaving the company very soon. Soon as in they'll be putting in 2 weeks notice on Monday or so. It's an unspoken concern that since a bunch of us brought each other into the company if one of us gets a better offer from someplace else there might be a mass migration. All the more incentive for them to make me a happy camper where I'm at. Honestly I don't think I could formulate a better position to be in without some type of nepitism or something along those lines.
This weekend I'm going to check out a couple movies at the Temecula Film Fest, one of which is "Ten 'til Noon. There's also going to be a workshop on music rights and acquirement in movies that I'm looking forward to sitting in on.
Next week is massive Attack in Berkeley with DJ Shadow and then again at the Hollywood Bowl with TV on the Radio. I'm really looking forward to the Bowl concert in particular. First of all I'll be accompanied by this lovely lady. Second of all I've decided that I very rarely get to dress up formally and go out, and the Bowl is as formal a place as any, so new shoes, new suit, new phone, and new hair. It's like the prom I never went to. A know quite a few other people who are going to the show as well so I'm hoping to get together before hand for some pregame activities.
Then on the 30th is Part Deax of my Housewarming shindig. A lot of my friends had conflicts and missed it last time so they all wanted me to do another one. Sounds like I'll be getting a bigger turnout this time around. Should be fun.
On the weekend of the 7th the LA Weekly Detour Festival is looking pretty good to me, and at the end of October I'm still planning on getting out to Pittsburgh for the Halloween party.
Things are looking good with the development of my audio blog. I'm putting together the page now and working on format and talking with my collaborators. It's all rather exciting I must say. I think I'm planning to launch October 1st if things go according to plan. Hopefully I'll have a test page up by next week sometime so people can preview the site and have a place to check so they know that it's coming. I'll post a link when it's in a suitably presentable form.
That's it for now. I'll be around. Get at me why don't ya?
