This week went by amazingly fast. The Roots were cool. James Brown was cool. Acid Mother's Temple would have been cool, but I got drunk instead. A Tribe Called Quest would have been cool as well, but maybe not for $50 at the last minute. I'm sure they'll tour again after the album comes out. The big dillema now is... to Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's or not to Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's. I'm thinking cash will be the determining factor there.
I'm starting an mp3 blog with a bunch of different people. It should be pretty cool and with the people I have working on it we should get quit a bit of attention pretty quickly. Plus I have a bunch of ideas for how to promote the hell out of it. it should be cool. I'm organizing the team right now and I'm hoping to launch by the end of the month. I'll keep you guys updated.
Also this month I plan to buy this:
I'm not a big mobile phone connoisseur, but I do like having things that nobody else has. You see I refuse to buy an ipod, but I do want an mp3 player for the short trek to work. I figure since I need a new phone anyway why not just kill two birds with one stone. They just quit making the phone I was planning to buy and this one just came out. It's the first one to play mp3s in stereo over bluetooth. This means I can get a pair of bluetooth headphones and get decent quality tunes wirelessly. Sweet. According to the sales lady I talked to apparently nobody else want to buy this particular model because of the ridiculous pricetag. (Seriously this little gadget costs more than all the PDA's they had) I however should be getting a helluva discount through my job so I'll get to feel all prestigious and shit without having to feel like a fool for spending all that money.
In other news... tomorrow I scheduled a time to meet with the vice president of our company. I've been with this job for a little under six months and I've already gotten two raises and a pseudo-promotion. (Although the first raise was more of a formality after seeing that I was working out better than they hoped for.) A new position has just come open and a few people around the ocffice have asked if I planned to apply for it. I was a bit hesitant because:
a) I've been there under six months
b) I just got a raise
c) I would leave a major vacancy in the department I'm leaving which is already looking for additional people to help with the workload
But the fact that more than one person has mentioned it to me coupled with:
a) I'm already pretty qualified for the other position
b) the last few people they've hired from outside haven't worked out and ended up being let go
c) you don't get things unless you ask for them
has persuaded me to inquire into the matter a little further. We'll see how it goes. I can't complain at all about my current position or the money I make, but this would take me from "comfortable" to "living rather nicely". It would help me feel less guilty about spending as much money as I do on certain things, and I'd be able to take care of certain other things quicker than I am already. Again I 'll let you know how it goes. The worse they could do is tell me no, and they're pretty happy with my performance as it is. My boss has worriedly asked me a couple times if I planned on leaving the company anytime soon, which makes me feel pretty good about my job security.
That's it for now... till next time.
