Alrightty then, I have officially started working overnights at the job. I get off at 3 in the morning right now so I come home, dick around online for about an hour and a half and then usually sleep until about noon or so, so I have the daytime to get shit accomplished. I need my internal clock to reset though so that I quit automatically waking up at 9 and having to turn over and go back to sleep. This should be intersting, well see how it goes in the long run.
So last week was another busy one. On Friday I went out to the club again with Darren. It wasn't as fun this time around, but it was still a pretty decent time. On Saturday I went to dinner with Manny and his girlfriend. Sarah couldn't make it because her uncle is sick, but it was fun nonetheless. We didn't even drink and ended up spending lik 130 bucks between the three of us.
After that I went to the Filter Magazine anniversary party where Sonic Youth played. Kim Gordon bumped into me on her way through the crowd, and I THOUGHT that was gonna be the coolest part of my week. Also spotted at the party were Mike Watt, Vincent Gallo, and Eric Erlandson from Hole.
On Sunday I lounged for most of the day and around 4:00 I headed over to mee up with toothpickmoe and incorrigable to gran some grub and then go see SY again with Pearl Jam. That is what became the coolest part of my week.
You see I found myself in this predicament about what to wear to the show because I realised that 95% of my shirts are concert T's and I didn't really thinl it was necessary to dress up for Pearl Jam. So I figured if I might as well go all out and be THAT GUY. (Especially considering that of all the band shirts I have Sonic Youth is the one that appears most frequently) Now everytime I wear this particular Sonic Youth shirt, somebody during the day makes a comment about it, which usually makes me feel pretty cool. So as I'm on the bus, I missed my stop and had to walk back a couple blocks on Santa Monica to get to the place.
So I'm passing by Astroburger minding my own business, AND FUCKING THURSTON MOORE COMES OUT DRINKING A SODA AND SAYS TO ME, "HEY DUDE, NICE SHIRT" I had seen him come out, but I wasn't absolutely sure it was him (even though I had seen him on stage the night before). So when he said that all I could do was laugh. As he got in his car I told him they had a great show the night before. He said thanks and I told him I was headed out to see them that night and he said "Awesome, I'll see you there". That pretty much made my day.
I had an extra ticket for the show, so when I got to the moe's residence we called up brvhrt and asked if he wanted to go. We then went to get something to eat and he met us there. We went to the show and as we walked in Eddie Vedder was out on the stage by himself doing an acoustic version of "Porch" which was pretty cool.
After that SY did a pretty short and uneventful set, but they did play MOTE which made me happy. They even included the long drone out at the end of the song which I wasn't sure they'd do for the PJ crowd. It was pretty obvious who was there to see them because the Forum was still only about 1/4 full and people were walking around and milling about during their set.
This was my first time seeing Pearl Jam live and it was a great show I must say. The setlist included mostly older stuff. A few tracks off of the new album were obligatory of course, but for the most part they played almost everything I wanted to hear. Eddie Vedder is still a great personality and I never saw them in the heyday, but it doesn't seem like they've lost much over the years. A good time indeed.
I've been pretty lucky, because out of all of the shows I've been to in the past month, they've all been pretty rockin'. That's a pretty good streak I must say. The next thing I have tickets for is Massive attack in September with TV on the Radio. I'll be lucky enough to be graced by the lovely Stasia for this outing. I know quite a few other people who are going to so it should be good times. I still have to get tickets for James Brown, and I'm considering Rock the Bells this year.
This week I'll be trying to adjust to my new work schedule. I'm thinking about going back over to Musicplus and seeing what's going on over there. On Saturday there's a Babyland show that several people have told me I should check out. I also got on the list at a "Dirty Bridges" event on saturday. I'll probably try to check out both of those. It's cool that I'm starting to get recognition in the DJ circles arounf town now. More of that being a rock star without actually making any serious music of my own. Maybe next year sometime I'll start pursuing that again.
That's about it from my end for now. I guess my party is in 2 weeks now. It turns out that a lot of my friends have conflicts on that day, but a lot of other people have already cleared plans to come, so I'm thinking about doing another one sometime in the fall. I'll keep you posted. Anyway, my schedule makes my hours weird, but I'm still around and you guys know how to find me if you need me. See ya' around.

And if you're planning a relationship rant a week in advance, I'm kinda scared
