"Besa me."
She gave me a look that fell somewhere between incredulous and contemplative. After a beat she calmly responded "No".
"Porque?"
"Because I love you."
I had to be on that side of town in the morning so I called Sarah and asked if I could stay over that night. Originally she had planned to go out of town and her roomies were having people over, so I was going to take over her room. Then the roomates decided to go out of town too, so I was gonna have the house to myself. At the last minute though she decided to stay in town and it would be just me and her at the house all weekend.
I'm such a fucking dork. I spent all day wondering if this was it. Had she finally come around. I mean last I knew she still had her other "friend", but whether or not that was still a serious thing I wasn't sure. I convinced myself it was best not to expect too much, but still in the back of my mind I knew she hadn't canceled her trip for absolutely no reason just to hang out all weekend with me.
When I got there I was surprised to find that she had another girlfriend over and they were eating shrimp in lobster sauce and watching "Law and Order". I nestled in next to here and began to mooch off of her plate. She offered me some wine and I told her I usually don't do the wine, but she insisted that since she knew I quit smoking weed, if I was gonna be staying there tonight she wasn't going to be the only one getting wasted.
So I drank the wine and it was surprisingly good. I asked her where she got it and was amazed to find out it was just some cheap bottle she had run across offhand. Before I knew it I had downed 3/4ths of it on my own. So by this time of course sitting nestled up next to each other her friend noticed that we were getting quite chummy, so she said she was going to head out on her way.
She disappeared and while Sarah and I were alone. one thing led to another and the above exchange took place. I guess a lot of people would have been upset at that point, but for some reason I understood the sentiment and found it to be appropriate.
Cut to the next morning and I wake up well before she does. The doorbell rings and it's her other friend. He looks a little confused, but finally asks if she's home.
"Yeah, she's asleep though"
"Can I wake her up"
Now I know Sarah, and I figure if that's a risk he wants to take he's welcome to it. I give them some space and after about 20 minutes he leaves and she comes out all smiles and very flirtatious towards me.
"He was just stopping by.... I'm sorry about last night."
"What are you sorry for?"
"I was acting like a bitch because I was on my period and..."
Whoa.... the last thing I was expecting to hear that morning was an excuse for why she didn't sleep with me. I hadn't considered her behavior to be rude or bitchy in the least, but she actually felt bad for some reason. That's when I knew that she really cared about me.
Maybe she did enjoy a lot of male attention, and maybe she tended to lead on a lot of other guys, but even if that was the case I finally knew for certain that she harbored no ill intent.
I don't know... I'm a hopeless romantic so I have a tendency to overdramaticize these things. Regardless, Sarah is always gonna be my little bizzo (even though she's 5 years older than me). I forgot what the point of this was, but I guess I just needed something to write about.
