Just saw a a piece on clive caldwell on the abc, an australian air ace - who can tell what they would do in extremis? But this piece used reifenstahl-like imagery to make a "larrikin" out of someone who proposed machine-gunning pilots who had parachuted from doomed planes.
I respect him, that he made a hard choice - I do not respect the choice he made.
The fight for country has often been used to promote imperiaism, but what about our obligation to ourselves?
Could you live with a choice like this? I find it refreshing that he made a "realistic coice", but i cannot agree with it.
I am as I am, and I am no shrinking violet, but I prefer the human over the cause.
What about you?

On the information available I would say he made a purely sadistic choice...seriously, what harm could those pilots have done? It's not likely they could have escaped and hidden for very long...
