Well this is two updates in one, because of my other diary. Anyway, it will go from farthest in the past (2 days ago) to recent, which would be today.
Yesterday's entry:
Got final back, did decent. like 88/100 approximately.
I earned the first 6 credits. 94% overall so I got an A. Worked harder for this one than any other class beforehand.
In the same right, it was a very tiring 5 weeks.
Am I up for five more?
Here is the pro's and con's
staying: pros
*6 more credits, assuming that I do well again, i.o.w. work my ass off.
*1 year of chinese in 10 weeks, whats not to like? oh yeah the crippling homework
*Stay with jessica, this is obviously the major pro here, no question about it.
*great fucking food around here. Loring pasta bar has a show every couple nights, good music, local bands, fucking delicious food.
*other friends i have up here, give me good deals on stuff
*I am a lot more active here than i would be at home.
Cons:
*The fucking homework!!!!!!!
*This class ends ONE DAY, ONE F'ing DAY before i have to leave for St. John's for fall semester.
*No summer break. after this, i go directly back into 18 credits
*Spend more money on food
*HOMEWORK!!!!
*HOME WORK!!!!
*It's summer, i could be kayaking, shooting bow, painting, hanging out with alan, peter, mike, & mark. (wait i think mark is going to the egypt maybe)
*Chinese doesn't even count towards my major. BIG CON! .
The largest con of all however, would be the shame of being a quitter. The shame of knowing that I could not stick it out. That is seriously my biggest con.
I could just take the second half of beginning chinese in the spring semester at st. John's and breeze through the beginning.
damn, i mean only 1 day between the summer and fall semester?
And about the relationship here. I mean, i have to be serious, its really cool and all, but she goes to school in california. Thats pretty bloody far away. (She lives in the twin cities)
argh, decisions decisions.
I play to make the final decision Aug 1st at the latest.
TODAY's update:
Well I made my desicion a whole lot sooner than i originally anticipated. There is no way i could take another 5 weeks.
I went to the academic advising office and pulled out of the class. Since I did it in the first two days of the second session I got a full refund, which could have been ugly.
I could tell my father was dissapointed. That really bums me out. Argh. I don't think i could have gone through those last 5 weeks and pulled off another A. Much less retained my sanity. I would have had to go back to fall semester 1 day after returning home.
Would have been crappy.
The hardest part was telling jessica I wasn't taking the second half and going home. She had already been telling me that it would get easier, but she already is awesome at chinese. Easy for her to say. sigh. But staying would have only put off the inevitable. She was going back to california for fall semester anyhow. Sucks we wont get to play d&d anymore.
Needless to say, Im pretty bummed out for obvious reasons.
Well, I should be home sometime this week, probably in like 3 days i assume.
I'm going to go drown my sorrows in music at the loring pasta bar. damn I'm going to miss the food here too.
