Happy August to everyone!!!!!!
Two weeks from today, the rubber hits the road and I'm a ghost (as far as the state of Maryland is considered).
I survived a wild night of sleeping without further injury (see last entry for a detailed insight into my idiocy).
Took the grandmother out to lunch yesterday and met a cute waitress named Lauren. She sat down and talked to us for awhile. She's from the Virgin Islands and is going to college at the University of Delaware. Great personality and cute as a kitten's whiskers. Hopefully I'll have time to go back and talk to her again.
Studio Memory of the week:
My "strongman competition" with Chris Isaak...
I've had the absolute pleasure of meeting Chis several times (actually I think he was stalking me for awhile). He was doing the "Speak of the Devil" album at one of the studios where I worked. One night, the Goo Goo Dolls (another fine group of gentlemen) invited an exotic dancer into studio A for some entertainment which included a "candle show". Chris was invited to witness the festivities.
I was covering the phones that night and was talking shit to Cheryl from Hollywood records. I told her that I loved Chris's music and had all of his albums. She said that she'd be back and promptly went into Studio A and pulled Chris away from a naked woman and her candle extravaganza. I couldn't believe she did that, and was mortified.
She told Chris what I said (even more embarassing). Chris and I talked for a moment about his songs, then he dropped to his knees and asked me to arm wrestle him. (???!!!) We re-enacted the final battle from "Over the Top" for about a minute and a half before my arm was pinned to the table. He shook my weakened hand and went back to the "show". He is one of the most charismatic and interesting people I've ever met, and just a fun guy to hang with. Viva senor Isaak!!!!
