Monday was my first real day back to work since the monster flu and I'm playing catch up after being gone nearly two weeks. Gone for 3 work days to attend the cochlear implant symposium in Seattle, got sick, and then missed almost another entire week down with the monster flu, pink eye (I still can't believe it) and laryngitis. I think I've turned the corner and am finally on the mend, but I'm still a little low on energy at the end of the day. That'll come back in time. My voice still sounds like Kathleen Turner, though. I think I should consider getting used to it....
I know I promised a shot of my new tattoo, but for some reason I'm not finding my camera right now. Oh, it's still here......somewhere...... of that I am sure, but after all the extra hours at work and the post-work exhaustion I just haven't been fully motivated to go track it down. Trust me when I tell you it's totally lovely. My artist rocks the house.
Weather is beautiful and nice right now. Sunny, warm and very inviting. If I hadn't just missed a bunch of work, I'd almost be inclined to call in sick. "Sun flu" just may have struck me down.
Have fantastic pals from Seattle coming down from the weekend: HolaGatita and SurlyMike. I think we're planning on visiting the (sort of) famous Shanghai Tunnels in downtown Portland. That, and I'm sure there'll be a lot of eating -- I swear those two have hollow legs! I've seen growing high school athletes eat less than them! (just kiddin of course!) It'll be great to see them again.
Two drum corps gigs this weekend: The St. Paul's Rodeo just south of Portland on Saturday morning (oh joy, I'm so not into cowboys ) and then playing for a southeast Portland bar called Roscoe's on Saturday night. I'll probably just make the rodeo gig and skip the night show since I have honored and esteemed visitors in town, but this definitely is our busy time of year. In the last 3 weekends, we've played about 10 gigs. C-R-A-Z-Y busy, we are! Having fun, playing hard and enjoying myself thoroughly.
Well, that's the big update for now, dear Readers. Thanks for all the great well wishes while I was down for the count. Ya'll are awesome, as always.
Love to all, ♥
