A lot has happened in my life since I last wrote anything on here. I have officialy retired from bar work. When more than half of the people in the bar were about half my age I figured it was time. My dj service is still in full swing, I'll just not be doing it in bars any more. Besides it was getting difficult tossing around the twenty year olds when they became obstinant. All good things come to an end they say, and with this it proves true. I know I will miss it. This was my fourteenth year djing and bouncing in a bar. I'm going to miss the satisfaction of playing the music that jams the dance floor, or the major ego boost of walking over to a group of guys in an argument and hearing one say "Oh shit, here comes Tony!" and watching them split up and quiet down without me having to say a word. I guess I have quite the reputation in the area, hell the last time I went to a bar three towns away I got babysat by threebouncers all night. That kind of bothered me, as I am theone breaking up the fights, not causing them. Of course the legend that surrounds me gelled into exsistance around ten years ago, and it is all due to a guy that owns a pizza place here. There was a huge fight, around 15 to 20 guys one night in front of the first bar I ever worked at. Being the only guy working it was on me to go break it up. Vermont state law states that if there is a fight, even in the road in front of the bar, it is that bars responsibility to break it up. I instructed the bartender to keep an eye on it and call the cops if it looked like I was in trouble. She looked at me as if to say I was already in trouble. By the time I made it out the front door though, everyone was gone. A few months later I became good friends with the guy that owns the pizza place and he told me this about that night. Aparently the fight was over some girl that one guys was dating and an other guy was fucking. They all had their friends and, well you know how an agry mob can be. Dennis, the pizza guy, was drinking in the bar just up the street from my bar, and he had come out to watch it. He said that in the middle of everything one of the guys saw me coming, yelled "oh shit, here comes Tony!" and everyone ran. Dennis said he could not believe anyone could scatter a braul that quickly and without having exited the bar yet. He said he waited around to see who thie Tony was and I quote "No offence, but you walked out." I am just under 5'9" and weigh around 200lbs. Pretty small for a bouncer, but have you ever seen "Roadhouse"? Enough said. Dennis has told that story to anyone tat will listen and I am sure as all stories go, the grow from teller to teller. Since then I have been breaking up fights only using a few words, or just by approaching. On the off hand I did need to get physical, and the last time I did I realised I am not as young as I used to be. Hell, I even think the reputation I had gotten wored against me.
Enough about that. On a very happy note, early in Februabry I reconnected with someone I had been interested in four years ago. The timing was bad on both sides so it never came to be. I am happy to announce that this August I will be marrying her! Life seems to be getting better!
