hey everybody, Happy New Years!
hope everyone had a good new years eve
mine was spent hanging out with friends relaxing, drinking, playing games, and basically just acting silly as is the norm when all of us get together. I'm not a big club guy so this was the perfect way to start the year. In honor of the chill session I'm presenting my current choices of trip-hop for when the laughing is all done and you feel just like relaxing until you fall asleep.
first is my personal favorite
Sneaker pimps
if you decide to look for them be advised that the first 2 albums have a girl lead who makes them have a totatlly different vibe then when the guy lead sings. Both are amazing. if you're using limewire I would pick up 6 underground for the girl lead to try them out and sick for the guy.
next up are the ones that pretty much got trip-hop out to popular media. Portishead
not much to say about them except that if you're in a bad mood portishead + warm tea + pillows = bliss
Dummy is the cd that I have and I never get tired of listening to it.
telepopmusik (sp?) is next. You may have heard one of there songs on a comercial a few years back and thought it was catchy. They became famous for their song breathe but the album that it came from, genetic world, is a mix of all types of trip hop mixed together. this album is addictive you may listen to it once when you first get it but. A month later it'll be apart of your daily playlist. They have a more recent album out Angel Milk that hits you even harder then the first one. Don't look back will be in your head for days.
and just because I like the song Slowdown I'm also including Morcheeba
oh and before I forget Sigur Ros and God Speed You black Emperor! are also the shit. Both play guitars with bows and both have gotten me through some of the longest papers In college. Sigur Ros is more of an easy listen while God Speed is more of background music that creeps unknowingly to your bed while your sleep until you wake up, but its too late..
