ok, i watched the nick berg beheading video on friday and i seriously think i'm permanantly scared. i've never had that much faith in humanity to begin with, but that just makes me embarrased to be of the same species as the people who did that. it was the most atrociously brutal thing i have ever seen.
my fiancee said that most people just want to watch it so they can get their "lets go kill those arab fuckers" bile up a higher notch. i can understand that, especially coming from the red neck area that i do. however, i thought of it as a sept. 11th kind of thing.
granted it's horrible, but it was a horrible act committed while i was alive and aware of the circumstances that caused it. when i have children and they ask what happened to that man and why, i feel i could give a better recolection of what happened having seen the video.
now i'm in no way saying that any of the abuse suffered by the iraqi pow's is less signifigant, but i can not comprehend what goes through one's mind before doing what was done to nick berg.
if you feel like i do, you can check it out, but be warned, you might not be the same person you were before watching it.
these are sad sad times indeed.
