Here are some of the nature type photos from Djibouti.
First off, these are about the prettiest flowers in this country. I found a small clump of them on an Island called Quaramous near Djibouti City that I can ride an ATV to at low tide. The diving there is fantastic.
This flower only comes out once in a while, after a rain. It has only rained here twice
The only other flowers here are what we call the national flower of Djibouti...... a plastic bag in a tree.
Here are some of the animals around:
I don't know why this little goat had the can around his head so don't ask...
Camels: Often overworked, undernourished and treated very bad by their owners. I think that they are very interesting animals and not near as dumb as they look. We have been treating a lot of them for simple injuries to more serious infections. I found one camel in the northern mountains that had its front feet tied together to prevent it from leaving. We cut it loose and let it return to the high mountains after we gave him a few antibiotics and vitamins, He was actually a healthy guy compared to many that we treat here. There are some pictures of him below...
I can't post many pictures like this but these are ok. I love riding around in these things. The best is when you stand at the .50 cal in the back. The view is outstanding.
And last but not least, here is a good picture of the "goat Lady" doing her thing. I see here almost all the time when teaching the driving course. I didn't know I got the goats were gettin'-it-on in the background until I was adjusting the picture on Photoshop. I laughed my ass off.
