My wife got a call from another mother who wants to go out for coffee. The other mother's nice. She's not pretty but she's always unbelievably sweet. Sometimes it seems like she's being so nice to compensate for her plainness. Every once in a while, this woman will show a flash of interesting resentment out of nowhere (like the time all the other mothers at a kiddie music group were sitting around saying what their husbands did, boasting really, and this nice mother said, "My husband's in prison." Like fuck y'all. And she never went back.). But mostly she's just unrelentingly nice. Anyway, she left a message about going out for a coffee.
My wife doesn't want to go.
"Why don't you want to be with someone nice?" I asked her.
"I could ask you the same thing," she said.
Dont you love that?
