There seems to be a lot of anxiousness generally lately. People are kinda going nuts all over, every where I turn someone's preaching paranoid sermens about the war on terror, or the state of the government.
It's always good to have your opinions regarding these matters, but what good are they without action? If you're so concerned about state/ federal policies, get in there and be the voice of change! If terror rears it's ugly head in your path, rear your own ugly head.
Me? I try not to speculate. I try to live the right kinda life, be a good person ( although this is sometimes harder than it should be- that's right, I did get back at those fuckers that thought it'd be funny to put liquid silicone on my car ) and the rest of the time, well..... I like to disappear in the bottom of a bottle. Selfish? Probably. But sure beats being paranoid.
On a lighter note though, the gear box in my car just shit itself and so I am now left with the decsion to either fix it, or realise the car is just too old and too far gone to bother and upgrade to something some what newer. And may I say, while I do dislike christmas greatly, I still feel the pressure of giving gifts, or more to the point I fear the reaction of freinds and family should I finally have the balls to boycote what I believe to be a complete farce. My little sister for one would not understand. Instead, she would just think I was being a tight arse. Then again, I think most people would. My own girl friend agrees with my sentiments, yet has been dropping hints on presents now for over a month!
Therefore, I am in a slight quandry. At the moment the only form of transport available to me is public transport, which is fine except now instead of taking me fifteen minutes to get to work every morning by car it takes me just over an hour and a half by train ( well, that's two trains, a bus and then a long ass walk! ). So, do I fix the car and be broke for christmas, self enforcing my scrooge-like christmas sentiments? Or do I let the old girl sit and rust out the back of work and keep the status quo?
I think Phate101 said it best when he said;
Fuck Christmas
Fuck Christmas
Fuck Christmas
FUCK CHRISTMAS!!!
Ba humbug..........

It ain't cheap (I know that first hand) but hell, it's worth it. I'm looking at spending at least another $20k on the ute over the next 5 years but what a ride it'll be. If I was given the choice of spending the same amount of money buying a new car, or the wheels I'll end up with...it's a no-brainer - the EH all the way. No questions...end of story
The workshop you're talking about sounds great...just make sure you're involved with every stage of work she goes through. Do your research and speak to others who've done the same before you commit to anything serious. I spend a fair bit of time floating around a website called www.oldholden.com - it's an awesome resource for anything related to Holdens. Not everything on there should be considered gospel but that's the beauty of it...just a whole bunch of people talking about their experiences with old Holdens and offering advice and suggestions and answering any questions you might have. You can get a lot of great info there...check it out.
