I noticed Yvette plaing with the chain around her neck, she's the sort who prefers just an edge of chrome to her metal so this was nothing new. Later she took it off and said, here, see : engraved on the medallion was her nickname. Evilette. This is all you need to know about Yvette.
We were sitting around a table discussing exactly how we could make the waitress's life a living hell. The other three had worked there so they had rights to ask for food with wildly chosen substitutions and claims of vague, all-encompassing allergies ("I can't eat anything with starch in it. Do you have rice with no starch? How about potatoes?") and let devil's horms grow on their head. I have hosted a few of them at my place of residence but not Alison, our current waitress, so I needed to order directly from the menu and look at the floor and shuffle and scrape.
Ben would rather sketch than talk to his girlfriend or socialize or in fact do anything else and this is what makes him good. Better. You can see that dulled edge of obsession in people sometimes, they call it genius. It's nothing special. Just the skills gained from spending every waking moment with your mind wrapped around one subject and one subject alone. He's got that and it's a joy to watch him work. Even if it does stifle the conversation.
I may make it to the Carissa's Weird show tonight I may not. Ben is visiting Yvette, a long distance relationship is hard to uphold so they need time and a relaxation of stresses. Neither has a car and this would be a definite distraction. For tonight I will drive them and Sarah around and hope that this helps.
