Probably overdue for my first blog..
I'll start by saying a few things about my background. I dropped out of high school to become a mechanic. I worked with a company for around five years including my apprenticeship and finally decided that I couldn't stand working with a bunch of people who hated their jobs, who'd been working there for at least twice as long as I had, but still did fuck all about it except whinge. So I quit. After which I found some part time work as a bicycle postie (got hit by a car one time) and saved up enough cash to travel - not from being hit by the car, just working. I still love the mechanics, and work on friends and families cars.
Throughout my entire working life I have juggled whatever job I was in whiles maintaining as much community involvement within the SA Aboriginal and TI community, environmental movement and arts industry. All of the above started to stress me out cause I was overworking and to top it off went through one hell of a break up so I shed basically all my responsibilities and vacated my life for a bit..
One of my mates and myself packed up all our shit and left Adelaide for a while. We lived off whatever we could carry on our bicycles. We rode around south east Australia and loved smashing out some serious kilometers, all the while living off bear essentials and camping illegally. An awesome and unforgettable experience; I'll blog about that separately later. Here are some pics for now.

Franklin Lower Gordon Wild Rivers National Park (Tas) - Frankilin River

Ulverstone (Tas) - left our bikes at a friends house and went for a walk on Pebble Beach

Highway (NSW) - in the desert on our way to Broken Hill, home stretch
After returning home to Adelaide I decided to give the books another shot. It's been a long time since I've studied but a number of people have told me that I would love it and be ok at it. The first thing that came into my mind was "MUSIC" when I pondered what area I should embark. So I hit my old guitar tutor up for a few jazz standards and applied for the Center for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) at Adelaide Uni. Felt confident after the auditions and got a letter of acceptance in the mail - gulp - so I was on the way to studytown.
Rewind about six years to when I met this girl. My brother and his girlfriend at the time (her best friend) tried setting us up but I was in a different head space back then and she decided to start a relationship with another guy. We kept in touch through friends and over the years developed a bit of a connection. After all these years she comes back from living interstate then living.. in the states, and settles down for a while in our hometown. We met up again only this time we were both single. One thing leads to another and after much persistence I win her over. "Fuck yesssss". After we get together and really hit it off things get complicated a lil.. she gets accepted into an amazing course and it's a great opportunity for her........ in Tasmania. It's what she wants to do and I have to support her with that. So what else could I do except move to Tas as well!? I'm still wandering around in my head, thinking of where I want to be and what I'd like to focus on next so I decided to give mechanics another shot. Only this time in Marine Engineering.
It's now getting close to the starting date for my course and I'm a bit nervous. But hey, what's the worse that could happen - me not like it and then do something else that's what. So fuck it. I'm gonna be a seafaring bookworm and still be able to hold onto my lady (in a physical sense).
