I feel an all-nighter coming.
I mean, this is always what it comes down to.
I have until the 30th to get this remix up and send a link to the label for judging. Except, I don't really have tomorrow to work on it because I have to work(possibly?) and then tomorrow night is the SG Burlesque in Santa Cruz. And at this point I'm in my 6th version, so I HAVE to get the thing finished and submitted just for the principle of the thing.
It's painful, but fun. You stare at the mixing window and replay sections over and over trying to get the sounds to balance, trying to get the sections to fit together. And then as the hours wear on and on you start to forget what you're doing and your mind starts to wander...and believe it or not that's when you get your best ideas and come up with your best stuff. You just get so caught up in the creative process that you forget about everything else, and before you know it dawn is blazing through the windows and you're putting on the finishing touches and getting ready to collapse, headphones still vibrating against your skull. And then later that day when you wake up you hit play and say "wow, is this really what I did?" because the entire preceding night just feels like a dream.
It feels good to have a passion for something.

I love inspiration in its purest form, where all you can think about is what needs to escape from your head... sleep falls by the wayside and you cannot rest until reaching completion. Kinda miss the days of being an artist...
All nighters are both debilitating and gratifying, and I must say, a part of me misses them too... whether for work or otherwise.
BTW, what ever happened with that job that involved Pixar? Did all of your non-chalant-ness pay off?
Piece.
