Winter Solstice / All that Remains / Throwdown / As I lay Dying show
Just returned from a fantastic show at Headliners Music Hall a few blocks down from my house. The show apparently sold out but at least I had the bright idea to purchase tickets earlier this week. Winter Solstice was along the lines of the other bands but the crowd was not as energetic as they would have liked. All that Remains surprised me by putting on a show that surpassed my expectations. Very tight and borderline flawless band live! Throwdown showed the Louisville scene what hardcore breakdowns are all about. The crowd went off for Throwdown and erupted into a sea of floor punches and windmills. As I lay Dying played 2 new songs off their upcoming June release that were every bit as good as their previous record, but better. After the show the singer from As I lay Dying met this blind kid that was at the show that loved their band. He spent about 15 minutes or so just talking to the kid, which I thought was one of the coolest things I had seen all night!
After the chaos, the night was followed by a trip to Steak n Shake with the crew and listening to a buddies war stories from Iraq. He was stationed over there for a year and was talking about his experiences and all I can say is wow. Also ran into some co-workers and heckled the staff at Steak n Shake before we made our way out.
welll off to sleep I go since I have a knar headache! - nite
And remember: Jesus Saves and takes half damage! ... and I need this shirt!
