The Song Picks quiz made me remember my guitar teacher. He was in a Bread cover band. He quit as my instructor and told me I just wasn't worth it. The fact he was in a Bread cover band soften the blow. Bread could play at a church social and everyone could still hear themselves talk. Music created for the Soda Pop and Potato Chips crowd. I didn't care very much about his opinion in some ways.
He wanted me to learn music theory and literally play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Then I would go home and play the Who, Alice Cooper, and music I liked. He made these charts for me, scribbled on some note paper. Based on those charts I learned to play all the main chords and scales up and down the neck of the guitar, and I can tell you any note on the neck. He didn't even know what he taught me. (there might be some errors on these charts) These are for the A chord, you play them on different parts of the neck for other chords.
