The black guitar belonged to John Cipollina. It is a custom made Carvin guitar. John designed and made the pick guards and head decoration. The guitar is wired to go to two different amplifiers. Each pick-up has a separate channel, one went to two Sandeell bass amplifiers; and the other pick up went to a Fender Twin Reverb, or he could switch to a Fender tube amp with trumpet horns instead of speakers. @headshot will notice he had access to 24 frets. Standard vibrato bar, not a Bigsby tailpiece.
The Red guitar with the amp is a Gibson SG. This is John Cipollina's amp set-up in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The metallic pedal box (on the right by the amp) was used to switch on and off the amplifiers and extra effects on side of amp.
"I like the rapid punch of solid-state for the bottom, and the rodent-gnawing distortion of the tubes on top" - John Cipollina
