I'm going on a long weekend, almost a week long journey to the desert. It is taking a lot longer to prepare than I anticipated. Usually, I get ready for a trip over a long period of time; and I'm mostly ready the week before. This time I waited until the week before to start getting ready and it's totally different. I have to wrap up things at work and stuff for our house, plus I have to pack and get supplies.
Starting to get ready months in advance, is a way to extend the vacation. Each month, you check a few things off your checklist. You can do research about your destination, and find the cool little places to check out. Then you are thinking about vacation for a little bit, instead of work or daily stuff.
The inverse of waiting to the last minute, is the frantic gauntlet of tasks, is a little bit fun. Suddenly sorting out the music is a high pressure task, because there isn't time. Some things need to be taken care of in a sequence; it's not one thing. Everything is going to happen; because you made the reservation.
That's my next three days; plus work and music projects. Until finally it's 4/20...
