Got a "talking-to" at work today, which is something that probably would have sent me in to a fit of hysterics, were it not over something I could give two shits about. I was holding back the laughter.
Lately, I suppose, I've been having some altercations with a younger employee who has technically worked at our store longer, but is still in high school, and works 3 days a week, tops. We had a little tiff over me using her register "without asking," which I think is stupid, considering I'm her superior. I digress. She freaked out on me in front of a customer, so I refused to talk to her for the rest of the night. (HA HA. I hid in the back room and cleaned. Let her deal with our asshole customers.) Also, my other female coworker who I get along really well with (she's my superior as well), and I tend to be silly and "clique-y" around the younger one. So we make jokes, which we do whether anyone else is there or not, and I GUESS the owner thinks we're being bullies.
So he basically said, "Play nice with the little twit, we don't have anyone hirable to replace her with yet. You're upsetting her, and because you are in a position to make more money and become management, you should know not to behave like that."
Which makes my fellow "bully" and I trash talk the little ninny even more! Oh well. Hopefully we'll get some decent applicants, and we'll be able to replace her.
She must have tattled on us. Or her boyfriend did. Reason enough to get rid of her- she got her boyfriend a job here, and kept it from management (except... everyone knew. Old Sacramento's a SMALL town.), and he broke up with her, and she cried her entire shift. Lame. But we told him we thought she hated us.
Oh whatever. She's turning work in to high school. Thought I was done with that nonsense.
