I really enjoyed Studio 60 last night. Funny stuff. Made me miss my SNL obsession. I'm just not so into it anymore. When I was a teenager (god... I hate the sound of that, but at the same time, I can't stand most teenagers), I had a mean SNL obsession. If you're into SNL, I'd suggest "Live From New York" by Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller. Good stuff.
Work, work, work. Seems like all I do anymore is work. I don't terribly mind. Things are going well at Retail Hell (I joke, it's not so bad), and Steamers is... well, Steamers. It's the same as it ever was. I feel more confident about confronting coworkers, but I'm REALLY BAD at it. Example: I asked Miss Stands-Around to sweep the stairs-- probably the easiest thing to do on the list of chores I wanted us to accomplish today-- and sh says "Ok" and continues to read the goddamn paper. Do take note that she's been at work for less than half an hour.
"Well, can you do it now?"
"I'm reading the paper."
"Yeah, well, customarily, you WORK during work."
"I don't take breaks, so this counts as my break."
"I don't take breaks either, and you don't see me standing around."
"Well, this is what Scott (boss/owner of the joint) and I do."
"It's not fair that I bust my ass, and you stand around doing nothing."
At this point, I storm outside, muttering, "Oh, I am fucking DONE with this shit," under my breath. I bitch to my boyfriend, who's having a coffee break outside. (Also, heh, he's the manager. And, ass, did not back me up AT ALL! Is it so much to ask for your manager to talk to a coworker who refuses to listen to a supervisor? I realize that it's a bit different, because he's my boyfriend, but FUCK, I'd expect ANY manager to back me up as a supervisor. WHATEVER.)
I did come out on top in the end. She was only working one day a week anyway, and they canned her after today. HELL YES.
So, today was not bad... but not good. I did clean a crapload of stuff at Steamers, and I did get to start making orders at Retail Heck. Go me. I just want to see both my paychecks. YES. And stop spending money.
And yay! Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins CD arrived today! Yay!
