I need sleep, but it won't come.

The weird thing is, coffee makes me tired.

All the undirected thought in my head makes me think it's time to sleep again.

hey, thanx. i dig all the poems youve posted.

caffiene doesn't wake me up at all anymore. i'm immune!
i've gotten barely any sleep at all this week and it's not because i don't have time...it's just because my body will not sleep! it sucks.

I am sore today, on me easiest day of the week. heh.

Time to sleep.

Duet On Mars
John Updike

Said Spirit to Opportunity,
Im feeling rather frail,
With too much in my memory,
Plus barrels of e-mail.

Responded Opportunity,
My bounce was not so bad,
But now they send me out to see
These dreary rocks, bedad!

Its cold up here, and rather red,...

They'd never find me. Buying a ticket on a passenger train takes out all of the fun.

I got your email, but it requires more thought than I have right now to respond. Later tonight...

I suppose I'm in a different mood tonight.

Rather than bloviating on topics of personal note, I'm going to *gasp* post another poem.

Here's one from Carl Sandburg.

CHICAGO

HOG Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders:

They tell me you are wicked and I believe them,...

I went to Carl Sandburg's house once and saw his goats. (Well, I guess they're not really his, since he's dead. His estate's goats.)

My book du jour is Dune.

I start a new chapter in my life tomorrow. Wish me luck.

As you probably have noticed by now, I'm a love poem junkie. Here's another.

E.E. Cummings
i have found what you are like

i have found what you are like
the rain,

(Who feathers frightened fields
with the superior dust-of-sleep. wields

easily the pale club of the wind
and swirled justly souls of...

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it.

I'm also glad you like Prufrock. It's my favorite poem ever.

Here's one I just found. It's pretty good!

Untitled
by Alexander Pushkin

I have loved you; even now I may confess,
Some embers of my love their fire retain
but do not let it cause you more distress,
I do not want to sadden you again.

Hopeless and tonguetied, yet, I loved you dearly
With pangs the jealous and the timid know;
So tenderly I...

While she is, in fact, lustable, I do hope you see more than that in Dylan. For starters, she's lovable. She's also intelligent, clever, silly, and kind. If you haven't tried to really get to know her yet, then I suggest you do.

Dude.
That poem describes exactly how I've been feeling for the last...oh...
While.
Thanks for sharing it.

I wear a wig to work every day.

I actually already had a shorter version of the last song you sent me. I do remember the thing you typed out about the ledge from the other song. I liked it, and I like folk in general.

I decided to wait on dying my hair blue. I'm just going to leave it for now until it grows out a bit because I don't have very much hair anymore and the roots are only about an inch long, so I'd be paying full price for them to do pretty much nothing.

I went swimming[/i today. I actually got sun.

Here's another good poem. I certainly haven't exhausted good ones from E.E. Cummings. But I wanted a break.

Funeral Blues
W.H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes...

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): British medical researchers recently announced that contrary to conventional wisdom, brief periods of stress are healthy for us--so much so that they boost longevity and enhance our cells' ability to repair themselves. At the same time, the scientists emphasized that intense, long- term stress is still just as bad for us as we've always thought. If they're right, Capricorn, you should be the picture of vitality right now. The difficulties you've been facing lately have passed the Goldilocks' test: neither too great nor too small, but just right.

I liked it, but not as much as the first one you sent me by her.

I'm ready for an early zonk-out.

But before that, here's one of my favorite poems.

T.S. Eliot

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock

Sio credesse che mia risposta fosse
A persona che mai tornasse al mondo,
Questa fiamma staria senza piu scosse.
Ma perciocche giammai di questo fondo
Non torno vivo alcun, siodo il vero,
Senza tema dinfamia ti rispondo.

LET us go then,...

We've recently had a hotter than hot spell, and the rain just lowered the temperature at least 20, if not 30 degrees.

90 precent humidity and 90 degrees is just unbearable.

Here's another poem I like:

E.E. Cummings

And so am I.

You're absolutely right. I am tired. I'm fucking exhausted. I no longer need a gym membership. Holy fuck.

I think '[place of employment]' is actually code for 'Seventh Circle'. Now I'm putting that book on my wishlist.

Hit 'reload'. It just does that sometimes. Although, that's not why I brought it up. It wasn't a hint or anything. I mostly just add stuff to remind myself that I want it. Then, one day, my hours in hell will pay off and I can buy me something.

I really want those books by Mellick. Understandably, the libraries don't have them.

The only thing going well is the crush on the coworker. Nothing will develop from it, but I've been living crush to crush my entire life. I guess I'm happy enough with that.

*Edit: Type much?

Here's another one that I think is better than the last one I posted.

E.E. Cummings

it is at moments after i have dreamed
of the rare entertainment of your eyes,
when (being fool to fancy) i have deemed

with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise;
at moments when the glassy darkness holds

the genuine apparition...
