Am I a bad person if the first thing I felt yesterday when my mom told me that my aunt, her sister, had died was relief? I received a message from her earlier in the day, and knew she was upset, and figured it was my aunt, who had been struggling with cancer for about 14 years and was on her way out, but I couldn't call her back for a few hours, and then I started to worry that maybe it was something else. What if one of my sisters had been killed in an accident or something? And so I felt relief at hearing it was my mom's sister, and not one of mine. The sadness came later.

Emotions are valid my man. They are real things that we can't control or switch on and off. Not with any great success anyway. Take them and find meaning. Do you think you're a bad guy because you're relieved that your sisters are OK or that your aunt is out of missery?
Think about it.
