Tonight I was eating dinner in one of my former favorite places to eat. It's no longer a favorite cuz I went there too much and got a little tired of the food. I had a craving tonight, so I indulged. Anyway, a family came in and sat down across from me. The woman was almost cute in a straight and bland kind of way. I noticed her cuz she was wearing this pink, small floral print blouse with really exaggerated cuffs, sort of like bell-bottoms on her wrists. I watched her reach out for her husband's hand. For some reason I thought that was strange. Then I noticed that everyone was holding hands and that they were praying before their meal. I think the little boy was leading the prayer. When they were finished praying to the lord above, the wife leaned in and quickly kissed her husband on his mouth. I didn't see if the kids did anything.

I think no matter how one feels about religion, there is a lot to be said about a family engaging in a prayer. There they are in a public place out to enjoy a meal and they thank God that they are so fortunate. Holding hands and praying is very powerful and moving for some people. While I am not religious myself, I have a great deal of respect for people who use the good of religion to be thankful for what they have or to pray for others less fortunate. There is a lot of honesty in what that family did. And as long as they don't try to persuade me, I have no problem with them enjoying their faith.
