american presidents: a salute to beardos
prior to 1861, america was led by a clean shaven face (with the exception of a few mutton chops here and there). the election of abraham lincoln ushered in a brave new era of facial hair for U.S. presidents. unfortunately, lincoln's successor, a former tailor named andrew johnson, preferred a clean face. america was without beardo leadership for the next 4 years until 1869 when ulysses s. grant was elected the 18th president of the united states. there might have been a few missteps in the following years (yeah, grover cleveland, i'm talking to you), but we had a good run until 1897 when william mckinley essentially signaled the beginning of the end. sure, teddy roosevelt and billy taft had some good 'staches but we can't consider them full-fledged beardos. the era came to an end in 1913 when woodrow wilson and his razor moved into the white house.
beardos of the white house, we salute you.
