Well, normally I like to come to you all with good news. However, at the moment, my wife Heidi and I are in quite a bind.
Here's the sob story:
SPOILERS! (Click to view)In April, we were forced to move out of our house a year and a half earlier than expected. The landlord decided to sell the place before property taxes went up at the end of the year. He didn't charge us our last month's rent, because he was putting us in a rough situation. Well, since Heidi was friends with his wife, we had a very reasonable rent. We couldn't afford to find a new place like that in the Twin Cities, especially with less than a month's notice. We decided to move back to Louisville and live with a tattoo artist buddy of mine. He's a great guy and actually needed to find a new place within a few months. So, that was how it would work. I'd move down first (while Heidi continued to work in MN), live in my mother's basement (while Heidi and our dog lived with her parents), get a job, save some money and then my wife would be able to come down and look for work. That was the planwas.
About a month ago (almost 3 months after I moved to KY), that buddy of mine got his girlfriend pregnant, and they'll now be getting a place together. Thus, we were now going to be apart longer while we saved up enough money to afford a place on our own. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before Heidi was going to fly in and visit for a weekend, our dog BIT her sister. He never bites. Well, since her parents run a gardening business from their home, they've decided that he (our dog) was a liability, and they've given us 1 week to find someplace else for him to live or to put him down. PUT HIM DOWN! It's not like he bit her leg off!! He bit her ankle once, and now he's a "lost cause".
We spent over 15hrs in the 2 days Heidi was in town looking for apartments with immediate availability. Not much luck and not very affordable considering the deposit, first month's rent, pet deposit, and the truck rental fee of $1,200, and gas from MN to KY would basically drain our savings. That's for an apartmentwithout a yardand he's a big dog.
Right now, the plan is for me to get a small place for myself and the dog, while my wife continues to live in MN. She has a really great job up there, and we can't afford for her to quit at the moment. We still owe the IRS.
So here's the thing. I'm posting an auction on EBay to help raise some money towards getting us down here and situated. The auction is for an official Dick Starr/Ghetto Skateboards skateboard deck and a large autographed print of the original work featured on the deck. To show you exactly how serious we are, my gorgeous wife actually posed for the pics (w/the featured deck) in classic pin up fashion. Ain't she great?!
Thanks for everybody's continued support. I'm pretty embarrassed even asking for this type of help, but I figured at least you can own a limited edition board and print for your troubles. Every bid helps.
