With less than 24 hours remaining until the end of Canada's latest federal election fiasco, I have finally decided where to throw my support. The Green Party , in my opinion, is the only option (for me, at least).
I may not completely agree with all of their views, but after putting a lot of thought into things, I feel they are the only major party worth my respect. And they are a major party, although you would never know this by the coverage (or lack thereof) of the party in the media. What I like about them is that they aren't ruled by a single point of view by which they bend their positions on every issue, but seem open to including different viewpoints. Of course, it is easy for them to do that, seeing as they aren't in government. At least they are offering a fresh voice, which is more than I can say for anybody else.
And every vote does count, as their funding increases with every vote they receive. So, even though I know that the Bloc candidate is a lock in my riding, and knowing that it makes no difference if the Conservatives or the Liberals form the government, I choose to cast my vote for something different. At least to give it a chance for the future.
Wow, that sure as hell sounds like a public-sevice announcement!
