So I work with my sister and my oldest best friend and we have a successful woman only business.
We decided recently to donate 10% of the company's profits to charity every month.
I live in a 3rd world country so there are many many people who need help, the first group we chose was called Door of hope and what they do is they have a hole in the wall where woman who would have otherwise abandoned there babies can put the baby in the hole with the knowledge that it will be ok. This organization is not very well known and they are desperate for help. There primary intention is to find people who want to adopt these children and in fact they have provided safe loving homes for over 400 children in around 2-3 years. The man who runs it is German, he came to this country and fell in love with it and decided to stay and make a difference. They are totally Dependant on donations and it was truly exhilarating to make a difference.
We went to a giant retail store that sells bulk discounted products and filled four trolleys (big ones)with everything from nappies to baby cream to cereal.
I know in my heart it is ALWAYS better to give than to receive.
