I don't really have that that much to say. I work full time for a company now. Architectural communications, its amazing, I love architecture and i guess i like communicating. Its my second to perfect job (who do the British Council think they are not inviting me to interview!!).

hey.....yeah, that's me in the profile, but not my collection I wish!!! It belongs to clovesbud, who has the raddest collection of vinyl i've ever seen (and there is way more that you can't see in the picture!!) He is a never ending wealth of knowledge and good taste when it comes to anything musical.....he's also a super rad guy, and married to my best friend...I'm slowly gaining total musical bliss from him and mtlqueen by osmosis!!! I have a pretty good collection myself...which is always growing...usually faster than my bank account!!!
MPC is here, very nice .. slight issues with the cursor but I know i am going to like it once i iron the bugs out.
Chocolate coins are great.

Eh there. I wanted to come over and say thanks for all the cool stereo links you posted to my page ages ago. I got sucked into a bit of an end of the year whirlwind, which I'm apt to do... "don't even get me started on mp3's" ... Don't EVEN!
What's MPC? I hate it when I don't understand one of the few words in a brief journal entry...

I'm beating back this illness with penicillin. Soon i'm gonna be live again. Free party soundsystems cost lots of cash .. too much for me on my own, some of my people are gonna have to help me out with 1000's rather than 100's.

good luck on your bidding.
for me, it's not about technicality of figure drawing skills, it's more about how provokative the pieces are. most of the old skool portraiture by so called masters bores the shit out of me.
i really like the flow of the picture posted in my journal... i like the color and the balance of linear weight. this guy is great at conveying motion.
what's really cool about him tho is that he werks with sand... sometimes he'll perform with orchestras. i really want to see some of his sand animation films.
i like the sax hook, but what i really don't like is the fact that it's a hook and horribly redundant... honestly, i cannot stand it when hip hop producers repeat the same line over and over with no progression at all. it kinda drives me nuts when people use jazz hooks but take the essence out of the music... jazz is all about wild progression, which is why i love it so much.
guru/donald byrd's "]loungin'[/URL" is an example of a hip hop jazz fusion that i really really like, because it embraces the essences of both music rather than raping the jazz to convert it into hip hop. i really like lots of the jazzmatazz stuff. the song with roy ayers is hot too; i'm a vibe junkie.
i think if i'm going to be listening to the same hook over and over, i prefer something more simple and funky over something as deep as that hook - that hook lures me in (completely away from the rappers,) and then when it repeats itself, i get frustrated. for example, with ditc, i love their production because i don't usually get totally caught up in the production, i kinda switch back and forth between rapper and instrumental (not always true, i sometimes get caught up in the beats, but it's usually because they're fascinating.) but i wouldn't exactly call their beats simple due to the fact that a good amount of them are quite busy with instrumentation, however, they are looped and most of them aren't too intense to where they'll completely divert my attention to a particular phrase then allow me to get annoyed by repetition. well, there's one show beat that drives me absolutely nuts... i can't remember the name of the song, but i think it's got like big pun or fat joe rapping on it... one of them fat mother fuckers. and it's real gangster, i think. anyway, the beat is just these really really intense horns; the sound reminds me of creaking swingset chains. really up tight sounding. aside from that, i'm usually a big fan of their beats. they're sexy. i like the way they'll teaset you with their beat structure.
but aboutt he sax hook, i relaly do like the phrase itself... i'd like to hear where it came from; chances are it's a good tune.
edit- i wasn't very articulate when contrasting the repetitions of other hip hop beats with this one... this is a two bar loop. i prefer the standard 8 bar loop because it at least gives off the illusion of being progressive... i also like super simple beats with just bass, drums, a good rapper, and maybe an occassional melodic accompaniment or sound effect (the beat itself has to be progressive tho)
i love this simple ass beat.

wow, i just saw how i turned that whole passage into a link. ha ha.
you should DEFINITELY make some beats... i'm sure you'll be better than 99.9% of the producers out there- seriously. you have seem to have a good ear for music, and i'm sure you have a fabulous sample arsenal.
i actually thought you already made beats.
put those rare beats to use, boy!
as far as the drawing, the reason i have this feeling of affinity toward it is because it really expresses what i've been feeling for the past couple weeks... not to mention it's totally airy. so it's like someone telling me a story from a perspective very similar to my own; i can relate to it.
i'm fairly impartial about a bunch of the others... except these:
i liek this one too, i'm still figuring it out:

So, i'm ill. Crushed my chest climbing through a window, then drank so much i felt wrong, followed by somehow contracting the flu. Oh and my neck is so stiff i might have mengentis.

My amp has blown up .. this is annoying but I was going to have to upgrade anyway. KEF 104/2 speakers need at least 100w per channel so i will upgrade my Quad 303 to a 405 and everything will be right with the world.

Heh, Glastonbury was amazing. Oasis were shit, Squarepusher/Plaid were dope so was Toots, Orbital played a good last set but most importantally The Magic Band rocked!! They even had a good Beefheart impressionist AND they played Big Eyed Beans From Venus just as I got my school grades. 2:1 i was happy, its what i wanted, as with all these things if i had done...

Its Glastonbury time, woo woo. James Brown, Orbital (last ever gig), Toots and the Maytals, Roy Ayers, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Fatback Band, Squarepusher (Live) and Dj AFX are my must see acts. Lets hope they don't clash, it's happened before, it can again.
