Hi, Oi, Hola, Salut, and Привет everyone!
I’m sure that this Memorial Day weekend is going to feel really a bit weird this year, and I expect that it’s true meaning and purpose will be more in the forefront of people’s minds. Remember the fallen.
The drummer for my favorite cover band, Linda McDonald of The Iron Maidens, posted a query on Twitter as to what people will be doing over the Holiday Weekend. My answer was, “I currently have 4 creative projects in motion: the final guitar tracks for a song for a horror film, the 2nd draft of the short story on which the screenplay of the film will be based, a promo video for the song, & prep for a Halloween photo shoot. #carpediem🖤” Whenever I list all the stuff I’m working on, and I notice other people struggling with ennui and depression, there’s a part of me that wonders if I’m just operating out of my ego in letting people know what I’m doing. I’m thinking of calling my production company “Small i” as a reminder to myself that it’s important not to get lost in the constant interplay of people’s perceptions and the mental attachments that my own mind and ego cling to as if they will save them from their inevitable destruction. I’m not trying to impress anyone with my skills so much as I just happen to enjoy making music, art, and writing stories, but the reality of bringing these projects to full manifestation requires the work ethic of a workaholic. Yeah, that’s me: “Hi, Oi, Hola, Salut, and Привет, everybody. My name is Alysha Rae, and I’m a workaholic,” lol.
Anyway, the above mentioned guitar tracks are done, and the production of the video is underway. To do this right, it’s going to take several days, so I’ll be making like a ghost and slipping into invisible lingerie for a while. Unfortunately for you, that magic bodystocking makes me invisible, too, so you may not see much of me over the next week or so. Just like any good, naughty ghost, I’ll pop out of the wall and post something periodically, but I need to really focus to make my goals now, since I’ve been slowed down by illness. I was recently tested for antibodies to the dreaded coronavirus thing, and my results were negative, so at least I don’t have to worry about that.
It’s been fun working with the animated titles just for the song video. A thunderstorm with lightning and rain plays an important part in the story itself, so this promo song video will include lighting strikes, and the song itself has actual thunder in the recording. I’m really looking forward to finishing this little project so I can finish revising the 2nd draft of the foundational short story and start submitting it for publication. THEN it’s time to start working on the screenplay! In between all of that, I’m starting the planning and preparation for my Halloween photoset, which looks like it will happen. 🥳 When November 1st arrives, I am going to take a serious break...and then get my lazy, lace-panty-clad butt back to work.
What are doing to keep busy, even if you are working? It’s important to have goals beyond slaving for some corporation, even if it’s just trying to take the best selfie possible or learning to appreciate a new film or music genre. Sometime after October, I want to go back to learning a bit of Russian and Portuguese and make more fun videos speaking in those tongues.
