One night, not so long ago, a young woman named Jillian walked alone beneath the stars in a silent city. Jill had just received a text message from a girlfriend warning her to be careful; she was showing all the signs of falling in love. Jill texted back saying she knew all about love, and that she was fine. That seemed to be true; she had been in many relationships, had broken many hearts, and had been heartbroken more times than she wanted to recall. Looking up from her phone and into the stars, she was suddenly overcome by a feeling of weightlessness; her heart was so light, she couldn't keep her feet on ground, and in her head, a whisper with the force of a hurricane said, "I AM WAITING." In an instant, a vast vortex of swirling stars appeared above her head. "Who are you?" Jill asked. "LOVE," the voice replied. "Love is NOT some force from outer space," she said. "I AM ETERNALLY YOURS," the voice replied. Jill knew it was true, and fearfully, she said, "I thought I knew all there was to know about love. I am afraid." The voice was silent, but Jill was acutely aware of a sensation of being hugged by a force as gentle as a feather touch but as powerful as a supernova; then she knew: the force was both within her, and without. She surrendered her heart in the spirit of eternity. "I am eternally yours," she sighed in ecstasy. "Take me home." Then, without any warning, Jill's body rose from the earth and fell upward into the vortex, and in a burst of stardust, she was gone. On the ground where she had been standing was her cell phone. The last text she had sent read: "You're right! I HAVE fallen in love. I had no idea how deep it is!" She was never seen again.
Just a little short story I wrote a few years ago for fun.
