Important issues of theology are discussed in dholokhov's workplace!
On the weekend CNN had a rabbi talking about the Pope's death, and he said that he felt that John Paul II was one of the 36 good people. Now I am no expert in judaic lore, but I thought that it was supposed to be wrong to speculate on the identity of the 36. I asked some of the orthodox jewish people at work about this, and they said it's not wrong per se but it kinda shows an inappropriate amount of hubris.
Then we speculated if anyone at work was one of the 36. I am not because I am snarky, lazy and self-centered. S- is not because he doesn't know who or what they are (unless, could it be....) J- is not because she jaywalks and runs from the police when they try to arrest her for it.
Incidentally, trivia question - all the media outlets have been mentioning how John Paul II was the first non-Italian pope for hundreds of years. WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE SECOND MOST RECENT NON-ITALIAN POPE? (I learned the answer in an Italian history class in undergrad).
