I am upset at the amount of police presence for Caribana, Toronto's annual black/Jamacian festival. Friday there were cops everywhere along Yonge St. They certainly didn't have that many uniformed officers on hand for the Gay Pride March. (not that they weren't in evidence, just not so much). The only conclusion that one can draw is that the police consider North Amercia's largest party for black people is more dangerous than North America's largest party for gay people, a conclusion which makes me .
(isn't neat that Toronto has both the largest gay parade and largest black parade, though? We also have the longest street in the world and before the Petronis Towers were built in Kuala Lampur we had the world's tallest building).
In other news, work had a special where employees could buy a new 19" colour monitor for $175 plus tax. I am using it now. On the other hand, I don't want to throw out my old, perfectly serviceable 17" monitor, so while it's nice to have a superthin neat-o monitor for my desk, I have to find some storage space for my big bulky cathode ray monitor. (originally, I just pushed it back farther on my desk and put the new monitor in front of it, but that was kind of silly).
