Time for a real update.
Christmas has come and gone. Every year, far too much family gets packed into one kinda tiny little house in Hamilton. Most of my immediate relatives were there, except for my sister who lives in Bermuda. She called from the beach on Xmas day. She was like "D-, there is sooo much money out here. You need to learn a bit about trusts, and you could come down and get rich in a year. I'l sooooo find you a job." Then I think she passed out.
The best part of the holidays when we were sitting around and decided we all wanted to go see a movie. My aunt said to my Mom: "I hear that movie about the gay cowboys is excellent! I might like to see that." My Mom replied "well alright then, let's look at the listings. do you remember what it was called?" "Not offhand, but let me look. Ah, yes, here it is. Wolf Creek." Sadly, we could not allow the joke to be carried through. Probably because it would have been lost on my Mom and Aunt. They would have emerged thinking that even sensitive dramas , in todays world, are filled with blood and gore. And I am one hundred per cent sure that these would have been their first words when out of the theater: "you know, I wouldn't really have realized that they were gay if I hadn't been told before." "Well I guess they didn't want to make it too obvious. Might offend some people."
For Xmas itself, my kind family got me the the very thing I had asked for. Go ahead, make fun. No, really. I insist.
The weirdest thing about the new year so far is that Google's main search page is now 'Copyright 2006' despite looking no different than it did on the last day of 2005.
Soem friends lent me DVDs of the series Firefly. I had always disliked it because I only caught one episode when it originally aired, and it was a very poor one. But now I am watching all of them and a lot of it is much better. So far I like it less than Buffy but more than Angel. The episodes written by Joss Whedon themselves are really good, but the other ones are kind of middling. I think I probably would have been able to tell which ones he wrote without looking at the box, too.
