Monday was my only day off this week, Im working a lovely 60 hours in 7 days and I thought I better appreciate the one day off. I was so lucky when I woke up and seen a bright blue sky, this unheard of thing called the sun and felt what I think its called this time of the year mild heat.
On a day like this you must be observant, if you blink you may miss the best part of the day. It was late when I got up and went out so I really had to make the most of it. Starting my day off with a walk in Herbert Park to see what activities were taking place, kids playing in the park and to be my obvious self, to scope out any yummy mummies (no point in lying). I did find inspiration from this walk to grab my book and camera and start making my way up the canal. It didnt take me long, probably five minutes before I stopped for a pint in the Barge Pub. On hot days like that there is always a crowd and mix of people outside it sitting along the canal. I got my pint bottle of Bulmers and sat in the middle of the crowd with my book. As I said if you blink you could miss something on a day like this, so I would only read two pages at a time and then spend 5-10 minutes watching what was going on around me. To my interest there were groups of young women, which will inevitably catch the eye and then a mix of young to late 30s people drinking pints, bottles or tinnies that they brought along themselves. You can go to south Dublin and still do this. For the whole time I sat there myself I never took one photograph, I think I still have the fear of taking pictures of strangers. I love street photography so it will be my everest to get over this fear.
I did take some photographs later on in the day and the rest of my story, well that will have to stay with me. You can enjoy the few photos I will share though. Uploaded to pics!
