Benign (poem)
Something's so very not right
In everything I see in you
While Your lips are singing verses
Your hands play a different tune
Burdened by this weight
I really think I should go
Don't want to cover
for your mistakes
Don't think I can
Leave it alone
Something's on fire
Inside me
Shut up in these bones
Nothing can be the same
There's no going home
I cannot deny it
My time has come to change
You cannot refine it
No excuses now to claim
What's the point?
Is what I'm getting to
You reek: insincerity
Play your part
With a lack of heart
Display no clarity
All the while I'm trying
To kill in me this ego
You make benign
You make benign
You make benign
Something's so very not right
In everything I see in you
While Your lips are singing verses
Your hands play a different tune
Burdened by this weight
I really think I should go
Don't want to cover
for your mistakes
Don't think I can
Leave it alone
Something's on fire
Inside me
Shut up in these bones
Nothing can be the same
There's no going home
I cannot deny it
My time has come to change
You cannot refine it
No excuses now to claim
What's the point?
Is what I'm getting to
You reek: insincerity
Play your part
With a lack of heart
Display no clarity
All the while I'm trying
To kill in me this ego
You make benign
You make benign
You make benign
