After a week of ups and downs (the downs being particularly bad) I went airsofting yesterday for the day. And in the year that I have been airsofting (it's only been a legal sport here for a year) I have never had a better day out there. It all came together even though nothing was organised formally or at all really. All the right people turned up. The new scenarios were some of the most fun and challenging to play that I've ever been part of (I even got to put my Sgt's hat on and start barking orders left and right at one stage). I came home, covered in mud, tired as all hell and absolutely starving. But I also had a grin from ear to ear. It really lifted my spirits.
My arms and legs were not appreciative, however, of the weight I was carrying all day. A 16lbs rifle is not an easy thing to run around with all day with another 25lbs of equipment on your back. I know real armies do this all the time but my time in the Irish army showed me there are more lightweight options (The Irish Army rifle is the Steyr AUG A1 and is a mere 3kg when fully loaded). But sure I'll call it my training for the weekend since I'm skipping the gym today!
Right now I should be having a shower but I'm procrastinating. I'm grabbing a bus to Dublin to meet up withSparrow and emma_treasure for a spot of lunch, the inevitable shopping and perhaps a few drinkies. I can also smell a full Irish fry up going on down stairs so this is shaping up to be a good day already.
Check this out, I don't know how long this has been on the go, but you gotta admit, this is pretty cool.
