Work sucks and I've been having a total 'mare trying to get a new job. However, recently my dream job of Air Traffic Control came up. In this country it's almost impossible to get because it's such a sought after position.
Ireland is apparently the only country who produces a surplus of atc's. To give you an idea of how hard it is to get into. I applied for it when I was 17 and again when I was 19. I'm now 22 and I only just got called for aptitude and personality testing last month. It was apparently the first time in 6 years they've recruited.
I've been told about 9000 people applied this time around and about half that got called in for testing. The tests lasted about 3 straight hours, some were a piece of piss, others were like harder than chinese algebra. So it turns out I passed them anyway, along with only about 250 others.
So that's 9000 down to 250. Things are looking up right? WRONG! I still have two interviews to do. One of which is tomorrow (Tuesday). It's with a recruiter, a trainer and some other guy from the Irish Aviation Authority. IF I get through that I have to have another interview with some IAA guy, a recruiter and a PSYCHOLOGIST. I suppose it's reasonable given the job, but how's that for a stressful interview???
So anyway, if I don't get this job I'm gonna freak out. I've got to be due some good luck and kharma?! I've spent all my energy in this last year making other people happy, surely I'm due a bit in return. Though things have started looking up lately so hopefully it'll continue.
God I hope so
