hey hey world!! i've been meaning to update my journal for the past couple weeks but tonight i decided i just HAD to share my happiness with everyone!!
as you can see, this one is a little long...sorry.
okay, first, old news: i'm still on the look-out for hitchhikers though apparently either eveyone in my area has vehicles, or people without vehicles don't go anywhere because i've yet to see ANY hitchhikers in the past month. also, i went to the APC concert last monday, good god it kicked ass! i sat up in the seated area so that i could actually see the performance as well as hearing it, and the group of people that sat around me just WERE NOT showing any real interest in the show. i was like having a fucking siezure in my seat just REALLY getting into it, and everyone around me is just sitting there like statues staring at the stage.
okay, i think that's all for old news, so i have to tell you about tonight. okay, everyday on my way to work i stop at this gas station, well, about a month ago it burned down so i've had to stop at the station a few miles down the road. well, there's this girl that works there that every now and then i see at the video store where i work. we exchange little smiles and say "hi" or whatever and that's usually it. well, for the past 2 weeks or so each time i see her we seem to talk a little more, it's never anything major but the conversations seem to be growing a little each time. well, i found out the other day that she lives like 4 houses down the road from me and thought that would be a great conversation piece, just drop in that little bit of info some time "hey, you know what's funny? - i'm almost your neighbor" but then i get people telling me that where i barely know her that's almost like a "stalker" thing to say. so i've left it alone. well, tonight while i'm at work, her sister (who i had never met before) comes in and stares at me for a few seconds with a huge smile on her face, and says "are you Mr. X?" (obviously my name has been changed to protect the innocent) and i say "yeah...why?" she says "I figured you had to be him...my sister told me that if i see you here tonight i have to say 'hi' for her." that of course, made my evening. so after i got out of work i made a trip over to the gas station where the cute girl was working. as i approach the counter she says with a grin "i was wondering if you'd come by tonight." my heart's pounding my hands are shaking, i'm sweating. i ask her "so, you got any big plans for tonight after work?" to which she says no. suddenly there's this big guy behind me waiting to be rung up and i'm just standing there going do i leave so she can wait on him? or do i ask if she wants to hang out? of course, being me i decided it's better not to chance it, i tell her to have a good evening and go to my car. well, once in the car i'm beating myself up wondering why the hell i just walked away. so, i wrote my name and number down and started walking slowly back to the entrance, trying to figure out how to present my number so that i don't look like i think i'm a "player" when all of a sudden the doors burst open and she's standing there with a bag of garbage. my mind goes blank, i'm struggling to find my tongue, trying as hard as i can to speak, real words and not jibberish. "ah, um, ye, i uh, um" that split second lasted so long and i felt like i'd suddenly been thrust into some hell of teenage awkwardness. finally i remember the piece of paper in my hand with my number on it and hold it out to her, my tongue remembering how to work i say "if you ever get bored, give me a call." the hell continues as she stands there staring at me for a few seconds like she's not sure what to say. then she speaks softly and i think "oh god, here it comes, the 'i like you as a friend' speech that should have been tattooed across my forehead in highschool for how many people laughed at the thought of being anything more." but no, that wasn't what she was saying at all. instead, she says "i'm not really good with phones." which, at first i assume is the nice way of rejecting my number, till she follows with "but, would you rather have my e-mail?" my world stopped... i wasn't being rejected... atleast not yet... so i stutter "y..yes. that would be great." and follow her back into the store where she can find a pen and piece of paper. so, she gives me her e-mail address, her AIM name, and her phone number. now, i know this doesn't sound like much...but the last relationship i've had was in early 1999... as you can imagine, to me, this is huge. girls never give me their names let alone their fucking phone numbers!
but, that's all the news i have for right now. goodnight all, sweet dreams.
