Went shopping at Best Buy today, and here's what I came home with:
Bowling For Columbine - Never has a movie made me so angry and so sad all at once. This movie made me ashamed to still own my gun - the only reason I keep it is that it was a gift from my father when I moved out of the house. What an odd gift. I don't even have any ammunition for it, and the only time it comes out of my safe is once a month to clean it. But I'm getting all sorts of off track. I agree wholeheartedly that we Americans allow ourselves to live in fear that is perpetually fueled by the media, though I'm not entirely sure that's the reason there's so much violence in this country. I honestly don't know what makes us so prone to violence, but I do know that I do not buy into the usual scapegoats of violent TV, video games and music. I personally have partaken of all three of those, and I've never shot anyone. Moore gets incredibly mad cool points from me for his healthy dislike of George W. Bush. And Charlton Heston is a cold-hearted, thoughtless and borderline racist coot. Jesus fucking Christ this movie made me so mad.
Schindler's List - IMO one of the most important movies ever made. Read about the horrors of the holocaust all you want, but you'll never feel it like you will after watching this movie. Absolutely flawless from begining to end. And, damn if I don't literally break down into sobs with Schindler every single time at the end. If you have not seen this movie, do yourself a favor and watch it. And never forget that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
Hellboy Sneak Preview - A freebie DVD available only at Best Buy. I was excited to hear about the Hellboy movie from the get-go, and now I can't wait to see it. Ron Perlman looks to be about perfect in the part. Anxiously awaiting the movie. The previews for Spider-Man 2 and even 13 Going On 30 looked pretty promising, too. Though no doubt that 13 Going On 30 will NOT be everyone's cup of tea.

Hellboy should be cool.It looks good anyway. Talk about powerful movies.I saw The Passion of the Christ yesterday.Unreal!I'm sure everyone who sees it will be affected differently and have their own views on it but that's what makes it great I think..
