My mum is hosting an open studio sale in our house today, with pretty slow results. What is it about people in this country not "getting" art? Actually, I guess this is precisely the problem. One should not attempt to "get" art at all.

As for the entire to pursue or not to pursue thing.

They're a deal at that price. I think wearable art trumps hangable stuff. It's cool that your mom does this fabulous creative stuff.
