Hello SG!
Im posting this from work, so Im going to keep this a bit brief!
For those of you who dont remember (it has been awhile!) I manage a comic shop in Boise, ID, USA. For a while, a friend and I were trying to come up with the capital to purchase this place, which didnt pan out (because, I think, my partner was asking for too much money; he was trying to borrow about $70,000 more than we needed to buy the place). Then, there was a window where I thought I was going to get the capital on my own from one of my uncles (hes a financial genius, and has always wanted to own his own small business). But, after looking over the business financials, he decided the deal wasnt solid enough, and passed.
So Im still working here, managing the shop. Good news: the owner has lowered her price, and because shed be selling to me and she trusts me to do well, shed be willing to carry nearly half the new price on paper for a while (promissory note). Which means all I need to raise now to buy the place is $60,000! Its still a daunting figure to raise, but definitely more achievable than $140,000! So thats what Im working on right now.
Ive also got a job interview looming on the horizon to join a friend of mine in a local labor union, which would be a great job to compliment my current job. It also has benefits, and a better pay scale than Im getting here, so between the two opportunities, my financial situation will be improving over the next several weeks (Im hoping)!
Thats all I have to say about work for the moment; back to selling comic books and used paperbacks for me!
