I just shared this on Sirkka's blog, in the comments, in response to her blog entry. But I think maybe it's worth sharing with everybody, because it made a pretty big impression on me. And I like to share.
I just read something a few weeks ago (The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho) that was very inspiring to me, even if it is a bit vague:
"[The world's greatest lie is] this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose the control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate." (Coelho 18) The character,Melchizedek, King of Salem, goes on to tell the boy The Boy "as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince [people] that it will be impossible for them to realize their Personal Legend (dreams, goals, etc.). (Coelho 21) he goes on to say that "the force appears to be negative, but actually shows you how to realize your Personal Legend. It prepares your spirit and your will...because there is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire orginated in the soul of the universe" and "The Soul of the World is nourished by peoples happiness" and so "when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it." (Coelho 22).
I'd love to hear your thoughts, Dear Readers...and if you get a chance, check out Sirkka's blog, and give her some advice if you can. She's asking for it- literally.
In the meantime, enjoy this adorable picture of my nephew:
Punk rock runs in our family (this is a photo of me at age 16 or 17).

And I know, my photo isn't very punk rock by modern standards, but bear in mind you can't see the rest of what I'm wearing, and this is the only picture of me with a 'hawk of any kind that was immediately accessible

Thanks for the comment on my set!
